So, how do solar panels work? Solar panels use silicon photovoltaic cells to convert sunlight into direct current (DC) electricity. The DC electricity is then sent to a solar controller which manages the charging of batteries and power distribution. An inverter can also be incorporated, which converts DC into alternating current (AC) electricity, allowing for common household appliances and equipment to be powered.
